First Tech Fund announces partnership with Blacks in Technology

NEW YORK, July 6, 2020 -- First Tech Fund and Blacks in Technology announced their partnership today. First Tech Fund is a NYC based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting high school students from low income and underserved backgrounds, to ensure they have access to technology that will empower them to close the rampant digital divide gap. The NYC chapter of Blacks in Technology educates people and seeks to increase the representation of Black women and men in technology through their platform for networking and professional development.

These two nonprofit organizations plan to collaborate and join their resources together to make a bigger impact in the NYC community, especially in Black and Brown communities which have been disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. COO and Co-Founder Hana Seligman described her enthusiasm about the partnership saying “we’re really excited about the potential that comes with this partnership, especially given BIT’s expansive network of professionals who can potentially serve as potential mentors to our future program participants.” Dennis Schultz, NYC Chapter President for Blacks in Technology says that “the First Tech Fund mission aligns closely with our goal to ‘stomp the digital divide’ through community outreach.”
